The new music and city festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW), taking place for the tenth time from 2nd to 8th April has announced a new batch of this year’s line-up. TMW 2018 festival pass at €60 (from 21st February €70) and the combined festival and conference pass at €250 are on sale at the TMW web-store. Single tickets are available at Piletilevi.
The anniversary programme of TMW focuses on a two-day entrepreneurship conference in Tallinn Creative Hub and the music festival with 250 artists from all over the world performing in about 20 clubs and venues from 5th to 7th April. Today TMW has announced 49 new acts from 11 countries.
Live Nations Baltic has added the internationally acclaimed Austrian duo Cari Cari, the Estonian heritage rock band Põhja Konn and the rawk’n’rowl gang Dead Furies to the line-up of the music festival’s opening night at Von Krahl on 5th April. The German XJAZZ Festival hosts the electro-acoustic trio Karja/Ruben/Kuusik and the “Young Jazz Talent”-awarded Janno Trump with his ten-piece groove orchestra Trump Connection from Estonia, the trailblazer of the 21st century Polish jazz movement, Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet and the melancholic electro-pop duo Ätna from Germany in the jazz club Philly Joe’s. The Made In Canada night at Sinilind has added the new school rap and dark R&B duo Samurai Champs to its line-up.
TMW showcases will take over more than a dozen venues all over Tallinn on Friday the 6th April. The Weekend Festival Night at Club Hollywood presents the Finnish DJ JS16, the producer of the millennium hit “Freestyler” by Bomfunk MC’s, as well as Arop, the author and the performer of phenomenal “Kiki Miki”, the Best Song of Estonia 2017. The Üle Heli festival showcase in the Black Hall of Telliskivi has added the ruler of the Finnish electronic music scene Kaukolampi as well as the Estonian audiovisual experimental units V4R1 and Ulmer & Wondering 0 to the night’s lineup.
The new additions to Telia and Intsikurmu Stage at the Telliskivi Green Hall include Estonian funk and soul super-group Gram-of-Fun and the jazz-to-futurist-pop act State of Zoe. The drum and bass night at Sinilind has added Lithuanian dnb veteran DJ Intakx. Estonian Funk Embassy hosts the forebears of underground Estonian jazz-funk Estrada Orchestra and the retro-hop combo Doktor Normal at Erinevate Tubade Klubi in Telliskivi.
On Saturday, 7th April TMW will spread from Telliskivi quarter to the main square of Tallinn, Vabaduse Väljak. Eesti Kontsert presents a unique programme “Seven tears” of music composed in the 16th century England and 21st century Estonia at the St. Nicholas’ Church. The Belgian ensembles Haftcraft and Astria Oboe Trio will perform “Lachrimae or Seven Teares” by John Dowland and the new composition by Tõnu Kõrvits, illustrated by a video installation by Mark Raidpere, created specially for the event.
The popular Sveta Bar of Telliskivi will host the warm up party of the Station Narva festival that will kick off in the Estonian border city of Narva in September 2018, presented together with the legendary alternative Art Club RoRo club from Narva. The most popular Narva acts – rock band AveNova and rapper Propazha – will be joined, among others, by the heroes of Estonian melancholic rock Sõpruse Puiestee from Tallinn and the punk disco gang Wet Red from Moscow.
Telliskivi Green Hall will play host to a showcase introducing the upcoming summer festival Sume, presented by Telia. Among others, those taking to the stage include Dallas Kalevala, the new „sub-arctic pop music“ project by the members of Finnish alt-rock band Lapko, Icelandic horror-rapper Fever Dream, master of minor key instrumentals Mauno Meesit, the singer-songwriter Mick Pedaja et al.
In addition to those previously announced, Latvian Positivus Festival and I Love You Records Night at Kino Sõprus features Swedish psychedelic pop-goth band The Hanged Man and alt-rock trio Sibyl Vane, the finalists of Eesti Laul, the Estonian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The ranks of artpop showcase CryptoMarket, taking place in KuKu Art Club, were bolstered by the addition of Kate NV, also known as the front-girl of Russian post-punk band ГШ /Glintshake, mining the far corners of J-pop, bubble gum, and blissed-out electronica. The World Clinic night at Kivi Paber Käärid bar will host the new eponymous band of PK Keränen, founding member and singer of Finnish indie icons 22-Pistepirkko, and the Russian Theatre Night is one step closer to being complete with the addition of the theatric dream pop of Latvian Elizabete Balčuse.
In addition to the aforementioned events and promoters, those contributing to TMW’s extensive musical programme include dark music festival Beats From The Vault, Blues Estonia agency, the Estonian Choral Association, Fenno-Ugria, and Damn.Loud agency in collaboration with Finnish metal festival Tuska. For the first time, the festival includes juke and footwork showcase Booty Powder, and as per tradition, the line-up features an impressive selection of hip-hop and d’n’b artists.

TMW 2018 music festival takes place from 5th to 7th April. The remaining artists of the music festival along with the venues, special events and free City Stage concerts will be announced during February. The core of the TMW jubilee festival taking place from 2nd to 8th April 2018 is music festival by nearly 250 artists from different genres from all over the world and the entrepreneurial conference focusing on the impact of creativity that includes cross-sector discussions on future skills, design thinking, future cities, gender equality and sustainable development next to music industry topics. The TMW city festival offers free city stage concerts, public discussions TMW Talks, a selection of the nicest eateries as TMW Tastes, a specially curated arts programme, Design Market and various activities in the public space.
